Owner Mike Gunson began his career as a golf professional, where he developed a strong appreciation for well-kept landscapes, precision, and attention to detail. During the off-season, he started a small snow removal business to stay busy through the winter months.
Through hard work, reliable service, and a commitment to doing the job right, that small seasonal business continued to grow and eventually became Big G Landscapes & Contracting.
Today, Big G is proud to be a father-and-son operation serving homeowners across Barrie and Simcoe County. Mike and his son, Colten, work together to deliver practical outdoor solutions, quality workmanship, and a straightforward customer experience from start to finish.
Mike built Big G through hard work, steady growth, and a strong focus on customer service. His background helped shape the company’s attention to detail, professionalism, and pride in maintaining and improving outdoor spaces.
Colten is Big G’s lead equipment operator and hardscaping specialist. His hands-on background includes experience in excavation, grading, drainage, site preparation, stone installation, and heavy equipment operation, helping support the quality and efficiency behind every project.
